Insurance FAQ

Why do you need my insurance information?

Since shoppers with Shipt use their personal vehicles, the Independent Contractor Agreement requires shoppers to have auto insurance that meets or exceeds their state minimum requirements. Please note we may request proof of auto insurance at any time.

Will I be asked to have additional coverage on my personal vehicle insurance plan to work with Shipt?

Some states or insurance providers may require you to have additional coverage if working with a gig app, such as Shipt. You may check with your personal vehicle insurance provider to see if additional coverage is needed.

Do you have any recommended insurance companies?

Shipt requires that all shoppers maintain an up-to-date auto insurance policy according to their state laws. Because of this, we are not at liberty to recommend a specific insurance company.

Can I drive someone else's car while shopping with Shipt?

You do not have to own the car you drive while shopping with Shipt. However, you do have to be insured on the policy that covers that car. If you are not an insured driver on the policy for a car, you cannot use that car while working with Shipt.

Can I still deliver orders if I'm driving a rental car?

All shoppers with Shipt are required to have personal vehicle insurance, and Shipt does not accept insurance solely through rideshare or rental companies.

If rental car coverage is provided through your personal policy/insurance company, then you will need to provide Shipt with the information for your personal policy prior to driving the rental car. To do this, please email insurance@shipt.com
*Note: Collection process subject to change.
